I have been reading the log books associated with the school since it first opened as an Infant School. I have taken some of the quotes with their dates and put them here. The log books are kept at school in the library.
Words in italics are my comments.

REPORT from 21 May 1932 – the report has only today come to hand. Extract: The younger children are managed in a bright and kindly way but the teaching is on too formal lines and too little differentiation is made in the daily programme for the youngest children who are only three years old, and for the older ones, some of whom are well over five years. No provision is made for a rest period nor yet for play with toys though nearly a third of the children are under five years of age; and for all these children more definite training in clear speech is essential. The school is conducted in temporary premises (i.e. a converted army hut) which have the usual drawbacks of accommodation of this type. Only two of the three rooms are in use at present; the third is unfortunately too small for regular use as an indoor space for physical activities. |
