Inspectors Report 1951 and school building 1952

There is a jump now to 1951 and 52. Below is a photograph taken we think in 1952. To the right of the photograph is a copy of an inspectors report written in 1951. It make interesting reading. The school was still an infants school at this time.

I find that the recommendation of a higher fence amusing because we didn't get that until the 1990's.

At the bottom of this page attached is the last entry into the log book of Mrs Coles before she retired in July 1961.

This page on the left is taken from 1953 and shows that the school was closed for 3 days for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in June.

Below is the first record (Nov 29th 1957) I can find of Clark's Shoes links with the school to do with children testing them by wearing them.  This continued well into the 1980's, but I don't know when it actually stopped. Clark's had a shoe factory nearly opposite the school.
